Privacy statement
Last updated:
Kringspot is a mobile app for spotting thrift-store finds, published by AIVI AI Services. This statement explains what the app and this website do with your data.
It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past. The short version: the app has no account, no server and no upload. Everything you post stays on your own phone, and you can delete all of it from inside the app.
Who is responsible
AIVI AI Services (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) is the controller for the data described here. Questions, requests and complaints go to hello@weareaivi.com.
The app stores your data on your device
Kringspot works offline. Finds, photos, watches, matches and your profile are written to a database and a photo folder inside the app's private storage on your phone. In this version there is no backend, so nothing you create is sent to us or to anyone else.
If a future version adds syncing between devices, this statement will be updated before that version ships, and it will be opt-in.
Location
Kringspot asks for location permission so it can show thrift shops near you and confirm that a find was actually posted in the shop.
- With permission: the app takes a GPS fix when you post a find, records the distance to the shop you selected, and marks the find as location verified when you are within about 150 metres of it.
- Without permission, or when you are no longer in the shop: you pick the shop from a list and the find is posted with an 'added later' label instead.
- Coordinates are stored on your device with the find. They are not transmitted anywhere in this version.
- You can withdraw location permission at any time in your phone's settings. The app keeps working; it will simply ask you to choose the shop by hand.
Photos and camera
Kringspot asks for photo-library and camera access so you can post a find, either from the camera, from photos you already took, or by sharing an image into Kringspot from another app. Photos are resized and stored in the app's private folder on your device. They are not uploaded.
If a photo you share carries GPS coordinates in its EXIF data, the app keeps those coordinates alongside the find so a future backend can judge how reliable the location is. You can avoid this by taking a new photo in the app instead of sharing an old one.
Maps
The store map is drawn with the maps provider built into your phone: Apple Maps on iOS, Google Maps on Android. When the map loads, that provider receives the map request and the area you are looking at, under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your location from the map provider.
What we do not do
- No account, no sign-in, no email address required to use the app.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No third-party analytics inside the app.
- We do not sell your data. We cannot, because in this version we never receive it.
This website
This marketing site is a set of static files. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and has no tracking pixels. The hosting provider processes standard server logs, including IP addresses, to serve the pages and protect against abuse.
Retention and deletion
Because your data lives on your phone, you control how long it is kept. Settings contains a 'Delete all my data' action that removes your profile, finds, photos, watches and matches from the device. Deleting the app also removes them.
Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. In this version your data never leaves your device, so most of these rights are exercised directly in the app. If you believe we hold something about you, write to hello@weareaivi.com and we will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. In the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Children
Kringspot is not directed at children. It is not intended for use by anyone under 16.
Changes
When the app gains a backend or syncing, this statement changes with it. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced in the app and on this site.
